Asstd of halfmoon dumbo ear bettas
Their oversized pectoral fins (“ears”) and wide Halfmoon tails make them less agile swimmers—keep water current very gentle.
They are extra prone to fin damage, so smooth décor is critical.
Avoid tall/deep tanks—they may struggle reaching the surface for air (bettas are labyrinth breathers).
Tank Size: Minimum 5 gallons (larger is always better, especially for stability).
Filtration: Gentle sponge or baffled filter (Dumbo ears and Halfmoon tails make them poor swimmers).
Heater: Essential—keep water stable at 78–80°F (25–27°C).
Lighting: Moderate, avoid overly bright lights as it can stress them.
Substrate: Sand or smooth gravel.
Décor:
Smooth decorations to prevent tearing delicate fins.
Live or silk plants (avoid plastic).
Hiding spots like caves, driftwood, or Betta hammocks.
Water Parameters:
pH: 6.5–7.5
Hardness: 5–20 dGH
Ammonia & Nitrites: 0 ppm
Nitrates: <20 ppm
