The Longfin African Tetra (Alestes brycinus) is an attractive and energetic freshwater fish native to African river systems. Distinguished by its elongated fins and active swimming behaviour, this species makes an eye-catching addition to larger tropical aquariums.
Longfin African Tetras are best kept in groups of six or more, allowing them to display natural shoaling behaviour and increased confidence. Their silver body combined with flowing finnage creates a striking display, particularly when kept in a spacious aquarium with open swimming areas.
This species is generally peaceful but active and is best housed with similarly sized community fish. A varied diet including quality flakes, pellets, frozen and live foods will help maintain excellent condition and colouration.
